HARARE, Apr. 23 (NewsDay) - The Zimbabwe Pensioner's Support Fund (ZPSF), a non-profit organisation that distributes essential food supplies and medication to elderly citizens across Zimbabwe, has called for financial assistance as worsening economic conditions are affecting its operations.

In a statement posted on its social media platforms, ZPSF said rising costs and an increasing number of vulnerable beneficiaries have placed significant pressure on its ability to sustain deliveries nationwide.

“Things in Zimbabwe are not going well for our Golden Oldies, while more and more of them are just no longer able to make ends meet even with our fully loaded box,” the organisation said.

“Many Zimbabwean pensioners are struggling to afford basic needs. Over 1,050 pensioners throughout Zimbabwe are facing economic hardships. We have been around and doing this for 24 years; this is not a fly-by-night operation.”

ZPSF currently provides six boxes of basic food items and medical supplies per year to each registered pensioner, many of whom have little to no alternative sources of income.

Through its #gowildforzpsf campaign, the fund is appealing to well-wishers to contribute towards sustaining its operations.
