HARARE, Mar. 18 (NewsDay Live) – Kubatana Primary School in Epworth has received a new borehole, bringing relief to a community affected by persistent water shortages.
The project was funded by businessman Tafadzwa Chikoto and the Chikoto Brothers of Chikoto Farms, and welcomed by Epworth South MP Taedzwa Mutana on Wednesday.
Mutana said the initiative complements government efforts under the Presidential Borehole Scheme.
“Epworth does not have consistent running water, making boreholes a critical solution,” he said.
Chikoto said the intervention is part of broader efforts to improve access to clean water.
“We will continue supporting communities and complement Government efforts,” he said.
School Development Committee vice chairperson Mrs Mundinge said the borehole will improve hygiene and ease the burden on learners who previously brought water from home.
Residents also welcomed the development as a reliable water source.
