CHINHOYI, Feb. 6, 2026 — A Chinhoyi magistrate on Friday fined three Zanu PF youths who staged a demonstration in the agricultural town demanding the release of jailed businessman Mike Chimombe.
Callistus Musarurwa, Calvin Dzomba and Trust Mazenge last weekend held a flash demonstration at Pfungwadzakanaka Shopping Centre, where they brandished placards reading “FREE MIKE CHIMOMBE 2030.”
The trio were arrested on Monday this week.
Magistrate Moreblessing Mahaso found them guilty of participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence and sentenced each of them to one month in prison or, alternatively, to pay a fine of US$100.
Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu were convicted in October last year of fraud involving US$7 million under the Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme.
In December, the High Court sentenced Chimombe to an effective 12 years in prison, while Mpofu was handed 15 years.
