THE government has called on project managers to take their roles seriously, emphasising that they are central to driving the country’s development.
Speaking during the 10th edition of the Zimbabwe Project Management Achievement Awards Ceremony hosted by the Chartered Institute of Project Managers in Zimbabwe, Mines and Mining Development minister Polite Kambamura underscored the pivotal role played by project managers in turning ideas into reality and promoting sustainable growth.
“Project management is not merely a profession. It is the very cornerstone of progress. It requires resilience, integrity and a commitment to excellence, qualities that our ideas exemplify. Your hard work and unwavering commitment have contributed significantly to numerous successful projects that stand as testament to your skill, professionalism and dedication towards our country,” he said.
“Infrastructure development directly attracts both local and foreign investment by creating a more conducive environment for business operations, improving road infrastructure, power and efficient communication systems, increasing productivity, and opening up new markets. Consequently, this fosters a positive investment climate, encouraging investors to commit their capital to other sectors of our economy.”
Kambamura said projects generated employment opportunities during implementation and development, boosting household incomes, economic activities and social development.
“They also enhance regional integration and access to services, which are critical for sustainable development. In Zimbabwe, strategic investment in various projects unlocks economic potential, diversifies the economy and accelerates development.
