Former Studio 263 actor and general manager of Enhanced Mortgaging Housing (Pvt) Ltd, Revlino Gwanzura, appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court facing allegations of fraud involving US$250 000 in a botched residential stands deal.

Gwanzura was remanded in custody to December 19 for bail consideration by Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.

The State, represented by Rufaro Chonzi, alleged that between January 2024 and August 2025, the complainant’s husband, who was the company’s first director, fell ill. This forced the complainant and her late husband to remain away from work for the entire period.

It is alleged that Gwanzura took advantage of his position as the person in charge of the company while the complainant was nursing her husband at home.

The court heard that Gwanzura connived with Gondai Marange, who is still at large and is the son of the late director, and flighted an advertisement claiming that Enhanced Mortgaging Housing (Pvt) Ltd was selling residential stands, when in fact the company was not offering any stands for sale.

The accused allegedly collected instalments from 105 people, amounting to a total of US$250 000, which they converted to their own use.

The court heard that the complainant returned to work in March 2025, after which victims began approaching the company demanding their residential stands.

According to the State, the complainant discovered the offence when the victims produced fake receipts that did not belong to the company.

An internal audit, based on the receipts collected from the victims, indicated that the accused persons prejudiced the company of US$250 000.
