NIGERIAN superstar David “Davido” Adeleke touched down at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport yesterday ahead of tomorrow’s 30 Billion Concert at Harare International Conference Centre.

There was pushing and shoving at the airport as people jostled to get a glimpse and take some shots of the Skelewu hitmaker upon arrival.

Davido — who was chauffeur-driven in a Rolls Royce by show organiser Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, as part of a motorcade with top-of-the-range vehicles — from the airport to the central business district, promised fireworks.

“I am happy to be here. I brought the entire band to give our fans a great show. I have many songs and that one with my brother Jah Prayzah that I can play for more hours,” he said.

Ginimbi said it was now game on as many had been waiting for this moment and urged fans to turn up in their thousands.

The parade in the CBD was part of efforts to assure sceptic fans that their idol was now in town.

Ginimbi said tickets for the show were now on sale with the ordinary one going for $20, $50 (VIP) and $100 (VVIP). The tickets are available at Chicken Slice branches, Coloursel Furniture as well as Liquor Boys Bar and Butchery in Mt Pleasant.

As the concert will take the all-white party format, which Ginimbi described as his trademark across the Limpopo River, price tags for the VIP and VVIP packages that are set to attract big spenders have been released as $2 000 (platinum), $1 500 (gold) and silver ($1 000).

Celebrated South African actress and television personality Boity Thulo, who will host the concert, is expected in the country today.

Davido will share the stage with Jah Prayzah, ExQ and Killer T, while Judgment Yard will be among the wheel spinners.
