SOUTH AFRICA-BASED Zimbabwean gospel musician Tawanda Jinja (pictured) says plans to release his debut album, Heavenly Defended, have been put on hold due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Jinja told NewsDay Life & Style yesterday that he was devoted to using music as a tool to spread the gospel.
“I was supposed to drop this Heavenly Defended album, but in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have decided to put on hold the release of the album to next year and will now concentrate on releasing singles,” he said.
“Through the album, I am sure that people will be able to see the hand of God as I believe that with the gift that God gave me I will win many souls to Christ. I can’t wait to share that album with the world as I promise more music that is going to touch so many people’s lives.”
The Chegutu-bred singer launched his music career in 2017 with the release of a Ticharumbidza that was followed by another single, Tirwirei Mambo, in 2019.

“This song Tirwirei is a prayer song where I was appealing to God to fight for me because if I am alone I will not make it as I was going through a lot at that time. The song also teaches people that if you are in a bad situation just, turn to God and he will fight for you,” he said.
The musician said the album would have the songs Denga, Toti Mutsvene, Zvatinoitirwa, Munotigonera, Zvina Mwari, Shoko RaMwari, Jesu More of You and Jehovha Mulisa Wanga.
