Stand-up comedian Clive Chigubu has promised to deliver a “stress-relieving show” when he goes on stage in May at the Amakhosi Elite 400.
“I want especially those who are feeling low and stressed to come and sample some jokes,” said the upcoming 20-year-old comedian.
Chigubu is no stranger to the stage. He has left audiences cracked up with laughter through various performances that include outstanding acts at Ibumba Arts Festival, Green Room Theatre and Mamela Music Concert.
He said his jokes are drawn from “the township lifestyle and my upbringing”.
The comedian, who lives in Barbourfields, also explores everyday events and takes his audience through refreshing and revealing statements in performances that mostly last for an hour.
Chigubu started off as an actor with Jeepers Makers, a two-man theatre outfit and used to perform with Mayibongwe Sibanda who has since relocated to South Africa.

He said that he was inspired by his current manager Tswarelo Mothobe to try his hand at stand-up comedy.
“At first I did not believe that I would be able to make it as a stand-up comedian but Mothobe encouraged me and I it took up. I now enjoy comedy a lot,” he said.
