Hundreds of music fans descended on Queens Sports Ground in Bulawayo on New Year’s Eve to watch popular South African house music disc jockey Cndo perform.
Fans started trickling into the stadium as early as 8pm. The show was meant to welcome the New Year. While others danced, some took the opportunity to play a number of games that were available at the huge stadium that included adult jumping castles, gladiator duels and snooker.
Luckily the weather was kind enough as it did not rain. It would have been a complete disaster had it rained as there was only one tent in the arena.
By 10pm, DJ Mark Vusani took over the turntables and played old school hip-hop music that was well received by fans who screamed and shouted.
Vusani also delved into old school kwaito music and the track Sister Bettina by Mgarimbe, which caused waves a few years ago, clearly had the greatest response.
Later, DJ Scoobie relieved Vusani on the turntables and played some ragga music as well as house.

He paved the way for Cndo who came on stage just after the fireworks display at mid- night with hundreds of fans having swamped the stage.
Organisers must also be commended for putting up a massive dance floor where a large number of fans showcased their dancing skills.
Cndo kicked off with some popular house music hits which her fans gladly sang along and danced to.
She later played instrumental deep house music and the dancing on stage became even more vigorous.
When she left the stage after 2am, the excitement had, however, died down though it was conspicuous that many had enjoyed the show that celebrated the beginning of a new year.
