The stage has been set for the annual Chibuku Road to Fame Manicaland provincial finals scheduled for Chikanga Beer Hall in Mutare on Saturday.

Nine groups will square up for a ticket to the national finals slated for Harare in September. Six groups, namely Bembera Arts Ensamble, Joseph Bhasera and the Talent Falls Band, Real Spear Band, Clifford Mudzinganyama and Rhythm Valleys, Kumapembe and Zephania Karidza and Kingstar Ochestra are from Mutare.

Batsirai Machaka and Ochestra Vakorinde and Shining stars will represent Mutasa and Black Scorpion from Chimanimani are expected to be the longest travellers. Winners are going to pocket a whoppinging $1 000, first runner-up gets $500, while second runner-up receives $300.

National Arts Council of Zimbabwe provincial manager for Manicaland Jonah Muchayi appealed for players in the music fraternity to support upcoming talent by attending the event.

“As National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, we are appealing to the community of Manicaland, arts associations, music promoters, club owners and music fans to come and a blend of diverse genres of music,” said Muchayi.

Sunrise Jazz band represented the province at the national finals last year.
