After a successful music career that saw tracks such as Rise Up Zimbabwe hogging the limelight, UK-based Zimbabwean producer and musician Tawanda Sibotshiwe, better known as Jusa Dementor, has released a compilation album, which features celebrated reggae artistes such as dancehall King Anthony Moses Davies aka Beenie Man.

Originally dubbed Zvityise Riddim, the Purple Hayzz Riddim is a joint production by ABRA Records and Life Records of Jamaica produced by Jusa Dementor.

Prominent artistes in the reggae arena such as Beenie Man, Kip Rich, Lady Saw aka Queen of Dancehall, Patex, Scotch Bonnett, ZJ Liquid, DJ Sunshine, Blacka Dan, Jah Sent and Jupiter feature on the compilation.

In an interview with NewsDay, ABRA Records chief executive officer Simukai Mandizvidza, aka Abra Simzz, who is currently in the country, said Zimbabwe’s music was on the rise.

“Zimbabwean dancehall music is on the rise not only locally, but now even internationally,” he said.

“Even artists like Mockery (real name Major Kadzinga) who may not be making waves on the local industry are getting recognition out there, which is good for the industry.”
