THE City of Kings and Queens’ vibrant food scene and culinary excellence took centre stage recently as the Bulawayo Eats Awards transformed Kings Kraal into a hub of culinary celebration, honouring the city’s finest food and hospitality  

The prestigious event, now in its most successful edition to date, attracted over 200 guests, surpassing initial expectations. 

“We expected 150 guests, but ended up with 200. We had to create more tables,” said Shane Manjelo, development manager of Bulawayo Eats, highlighting the event’s growing popularity. 

Hosted by renowned comedian Mbongeni Ignatius and featuring live music from the Shadow Circuit Band, the event recognised and honoured outstanding achievements in the city’s food and beverage industry, bring the city’s culinary community, hospitality leaders, food lovers together in one place. 

Ten prestigious awards were handed out, recognizing top players in Bulawayo’s food and beverage industry.

Manjelo praised the community for its continued support and enthusiasm.   

“This year’s success reflects the incredible talent and dedication within Bulawayo’s food scene,” he said. 

“We’re proud to celebrate individuals and businesses who are redefining local cuisine and services.” 

The event not only celebrated achievements but also spotlighted Bulawayo as a rising culinary destination. 

Organisers have confirmed that planning for the 2026 edition is already underway, promising an even more spectacular showcase of the city’s evolving food culture.
