Glamis Arena in Harare had arguably the largest paying audience at the Castle Braai Festival 10th Birthday, which was commemorated on Saturday, October 18.

The merriment could have recorded the highest tonnage of meat consumption, judging by the high turnout.

Musicians Nisha Ts, Nutty O, DJ Tira, ExQ featuring Oskid, Killer T, Ammara Brown, Ndunge Yut, Levels and Fantan, Master H, Anika and Enzo Ishall, among others, put up spirited performances which kept the audience engaged up to midnight, only swaying their bodies as there was little space to move.

Winky D did the final liberation of the peer to buy a Castle Lager through his latest offering, Drink It Up (Problems Away), which features Jamaican singer Busy Signal.

Delta Corporation, which was celebrating 130 years of brewing excellence, described Castle Lager as “the journey of Africa’s most famous and authentic beer”.

In addition to that, it is viewed as a flagship that emphasises bringing people together for a better world.

The event directors kept asking the audience to lift their Castle beers as a bonding yardstick for consumption for the exciting occasion, which had the majority in red T-shirts and caps, while minds were blown up by audiovisuals.

There was one thing common to the musical performances that they would take longer to set up their samplers and live instruments before turning their speeches into singing and eventually regain the audience's grip.

Nisha Ts had the audience sing along to her hits, Shampopo, Gevha and her breakthrough track, Kutsamwa Kune Labour, while Nutty O kept the audience glued to the stage as he belted out Shoulder and Safe, among others. South African DJ Tira charmed the audience through toques and innovative drumming with thunderous resurrecting sounds blended in amapiano tweaks.

ExQ, who featured Oskid at one time, sang Bachura, Nzenza and Tsvigiri, while his energetic dancers sealed it off why they have many calls for performances.

Killer T was at his best with Ndamuda and Hakete songs.

It was a big welcome back for Ammara Brown, who not only performed hit after hit, including Mukoko and his latest offerings from her yet-to-be released music album titled Fleming Lily.

Dressed in a red ballet skirt, Ammara revolved from mbira playing, dancing to melodious singing. She supplanted early performers by providing a tight performance and instrumental backup.

Other stellar showcases came from Enzo Ishall, Master H, Ndunge Yut, Levels and Fantan.

At the backstage, Ammara promised more exciting times and enjoyment of her yet-to-be released new album, Fleming Lily. Ammara said she was happily married and the couple had one child.

Winky D,  who is widely regarded as one of Zimbabwe's foremost luminaries in the reggae-dancehall genre, now traded as “Zimdancehall, had a steadfast grip on the audience through his deep connection to people’s day-to-day living.
