LOCAL hip-hop singer Donne Jovi says there is a lot of potential and opportunities in the Zimbabwean arts industry that need to be explored.
The multi-talented Jovi who is also a professional actor, entrepreneur and proprietor of the Joina Jamz Radio believes the sky is the limit for him in pursuit of his dreams.
“I believe the cultural and creative industry in Zimbabwe is at its best as far as quality of art output in many disciplines. We just need more infrastructure and less politics with regards to gatekeepers so that more diversity can be showcased,” he told NewsDay Life & Style.
“With regards to broadcasting, I have started my own company Joina Jamz. I co-founded it with Bruce Nigel Magaya. We have been up and running since July 2022 and have been growing ever since.”
Jovi said last year, his focus was more on establishing a name in the showbiz industry that saw him staging performances at Moto Republik, Emagumeni in Helensvale and at Joina City mall in Harare.
“I have also been a contestant on Zimbabwe’s reality show called Next Big Superstar and my audition got the highest acclamation of four green stars. I was also nominated for a Zim hip-hop award for the first time in my career,” he said.
“This year I will be working to create more crowd-sourcing content for film and music. I have several extended plays in the offing.”
