The band will be hosting a spoken word session during the festival on May 3 where they will unleash sounds from the eight-track album titled Boombap Idiophonics.

Starting in 2011, the three-member ensemble has never looked back as they continue exploring their forte in fusion between the hip-hop genre and other local tunes, securing a significant fan base in sold out shows at Hifa and other festivals in and out of the country.

In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, the band lead guitarist Impi Maphango said the album had come at the right time as they would showcase it to their fans at the festival.

“Our new album will be released through iTunes and on CDs through our music label in the UK (BBE music) and we have decided that since we are hosting the hip-hop meets poetry at Hifa, it would be a perfect opportunity for us to perform sounds off the album,” Maphango said, pledging a stellar performance at Hifa. “People will enjoy playing the new tracks mainly because it is good music. It was produced by DJ Oil from Marseille in France and we collaborated with Hope Masike.”

He highlighted that their hard work in the production of the album was bound to pay off as the Zimbabwean fans continued to embrace the feel of their fused hip-hop.

“As we put more work into our sound, we will just let the music take us where it wants to go and I think people are warming up to it.”

Meanwhile, this year’s Hifa is promising to be yet again a great multi-faceted occasion with dancehall fans in for an exciting “Mashup” featuring multi-award-winning Ghanaian female chanter Kaakie, South Africa-based Buffalo Souljah and Mafia 19 king Guspy Warrior on April 30.
