BEVERAGES giant Coca-Cola’s tag line “Open Hapiness” expressed the festive mood that envelopes the Coke Green stage, one of Harare International Festival of Arts stages, an oasis for all fun and entertainment-craving festival goers.

It was in this “open happiness” under blue skies on Saturday that Harare Collective, a band made up of local musicians, added their unique sounds to the vibe of the festival.
With a rich production of a fusion of styles including reggae and Afro-jazz, punctuated with soothing saxophone sounds, Harare Collective was a pleasant surprise to those who had never heard of the ensemble.
With a feel of UB40 here and a hint of Bob Marley’s sounds there, blended with their own unique melodies, the band kept the audience on their feet throughout the entire show.
They played their own songs — one of them a tribute to the city of Harare. The group had fans moving, shaking and stomping and when they performed Bob Marley and the Wailers Zimbabwe, the crowd couldn’t help but sing and dance along.
