Finance and Economic Development minister Patrick Chinamasa has appointed mathematician Senelani Dorothy Hove-Musekwa to chair the nine-member board of the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) for a period of three years. BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

Hove-Musekwa lectures in the Applied Maths department at the National University of Science and Technology. She will be deputised by Patrick Masvikeni.

Other members of the board are Research Council of Zimbabwe executive director Susan Muzite, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe executive Simon Nyarota, Afre CEO Douglas Hoto, Eria Hamandishe, Florence Matarise and Nyaradzo Priscilla Munangati.

The appointments were contained in an Extraordinary Government Gazette published last Monday. Zimstat has been operating without a board following the expiry of the term of office of the Hoto-led board in 2013.

Hove-Musekwa, Muzite and Nyarota were retained from the previous board.

Zimstat is a corporate body that was established through the Census and Statistics Act of 2007.
