Popular musician Sugar Sugar and his group, Samaita Express, are set to launch their 14th album titled Kusvika Ati Eke at Zebra Village in Mbare next Saturday.
The launch event, which is expected to attract fans from across Harare and beyond, will start at 4pm and continue late into the night.
The album launch will feature a supporting cast that includes Hosiah Chipanga, Khonangale, Amadhuve Sasha, Franco Slomo, Libho, Junior Matsito and Guardian Angels, while DJs Double Sly will provide entertainment on the decks.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Sugar Sugar said the new project continues his long-standing tradition of using music to address social realities affecting ordinary people.
“My music has always been about social commentary and speaking about issues that people face in their daily lives. Through this album, we are educating, entertaining and giving people hope at the same time,” he said.
The musician added that the album carries messages that touch on perseverance, relationships, social behaviour and the struggles faced by communities.
According to the artiste, the album contains nine tracks namely Kunyarara, Tendwai, Zvichanaka, Madhisinyongoro, Mudodo, Mamuka Sei, Kungozhamba, Mukwende and Ndakaziva.
The project marks Sugar Sugar’s 14th album release, underlining his longevity and consistency in Zimbabwe’s music industry.
Sugar Sugar said he was optimistic that fans would appreciate the new offering because it reflects real-life experiences that many people can relate to.
“We want people to leave the show entertained, but also with something meaningful to think about. Music should speak to society,” he said.
Fans are expected to witness energetic performances from Sugar Sugar and Samaita Express during the official unveiling of the album in one of Harare’s home of sungura music, Zebra Village.
The launch is also expected to celebrate local music and culture while providing a platform for artistes and fans to interact through live performances.
