UK-based Zimbabwean online streamer Mudiwa Jani — popularly known as Superstar Jani — is taking his fast-rising brand continental, with a livestreaming tour that will see him touch down in Ethiopia before heading home for Zimbabwe.

Jani’s meteoric rise follows a breakout moment alongside American YouTube sensation IShowSpeed during the latter’s high-energy visit to Harare in January.

In a twist few anticipated, the Zimbabwean content creator captured the attention of audiences, carving out his own spotlight amid the global star’s tour.

The connection has since evolved into collaboration, with Jani linking up with IShowSpeed again in Ethiopia as part of the American streamer’s wider African tour — a move that has significantly boosted his visibility beyond Zimbabwe’s borders.

Speaking to Standard Style, Jani confirmed he was en route to Ethiopia to expand his livestreaming footprint before proceeding to Zimbabwe.

While in Ethiopia, Jani is expected to attend the Fasika crossover — the Ethiopian Orthodox Easter — one of the country’s most significant and joyous religious celebrations. Fasika marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ and follows a strict 55-day Lenten fast known as Tsome Falgi, during which observers abstain from meat and dairy.

The celebrations culminate in massive Saturday night church services, including midnight mass, before families gather to break the fast with traditional dishes such as doro wat. Jani is expected to capture these moments live, offering his growing global audience a rare glimpse into Ethiopia’s rich cultural and religious traditions.

“I’m building something global,” Jani said. “This journey is about pushing beyond borders and showing that Zimbabwean creators can compete on the world stage.”

Since his viral breakthrough, Jani has seen a surge in followers across major platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.

His content — largely centred on live interactions, street energy and spontaneous moments — has resonated with a young, digitally connected audience hungry for authentic, real-time entertainment.

Industry observers say Jani’s rise reflects a broader shift in content creation, where livestreaming is rapidly overtaking traditional formats as audiences gravitate toward unscripted, immersive experiences.

Unlike many creators who build audiences within fixed locations, Jani is embracing mobility as a strategy, using travel to diversify content and tap into new markets.

His Ethiopia trip signals an ambition to position himself as a pan-African — and ultimately global — digital personality.

“I want to reach over 10 million subscribers across my channels and compete for top honours like Streamer of the Year,” he said.

Analysts note that collaborations with established global influencers such as IShowSpeed can be a game-changer for emerging creators, offering instant exposure to millions of viewers and accelerating brand growth.

With momentum firmly on his side, Superstar Jani’s next moves could cement his status as one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable digital exports — and a new face of African livestreaming on the global stage.
