MANICA Diamonds returned to it's fortress Sakubva stadium in style after convincingly thrashing visiting Agama 3-1 in Castle Lager premier soccer league match played at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.
Russel Kahiki, Farai Banda and Malone Maziriri scored for Manica Diamonds while Ralph Nyamupurika scored for Agama.
The game started on a low note with Manica Diamonds losing many chances.
A goal attempt by Manica Diamonds winger Charles Teguru saw his header going over the bar after receiving a cross from Liberty Masveure
In the second half Agama's Richard Kuma' attempt at goal slightly went over the bar from a well taken corner kick in the 50min.
In the 55minute, Manica Diamonds midfielder Russell Kahiki scored after goal mouth melee after Charles Teguru had swept through a cluster of defenders .
In the 71 minute Teguru could have increased the scoreline but failed to convert a chance with only the keeper to beat.
Ten minutes late, Agama equalised through Nyamupurika, who utilized a mistake by Manica Diamonds defender Arthur Ndlovu in the 16 yard box and taped home.
In the 83 minute a goal bound Teguru was hacked down in the box by Agama defender Siphephelo Philiso. Veteran defender and free kick specialist Farai Banda converted sending Agama goalkeeper Wilson Banda the wrong way.
In the 95 minute Manica Diamond midfielder Marlone Maziriri did justice from a spectacular pass from exciting winger Teguru to tap home torching wild celebrations from it's home fans
Manica Diamonds coach Patrick Mandizha was a happy man.
"It was an emotional return to our home ground. This motivated our players. It was an advantage to them and managed to collect there points.," Mandizha said.
Agama coach Maxwell Jongwe said: "We knew it was going to be very difficult to us . The pitch is not suitable for matchdays. It was a good game from Manica Diamonds and congratulations to them for collecting maximum points."
