Controversial Zimbabwean musician and producer Rockford “Roki” Josphats has appeared to issue a public apology to his ex-wife and former Mafriq member Pauline Gundidza, in a social media post that has sparked widespread discussion among fans.

The message, posted on a Facebook page titled Rockford Gold Music, expressed remorse over the collapse of their marriage and appeared to place responsibility on the musician's past actions.

"Please forgive me ndaiva Jonasi muMarriage yedu zvakava zvakaparadza imba yedu" (Please forgive me, I was Jonasi in our marriage, and it destroyed our home), the post read.

Efforts to reach Roki to verify whether the page is his official account and whether the statement was indeed authored by him were unsuccessful, as his mobile phone was unreachable at the time of publication.

If authentic, the post's reference to "Jonasi" is significant. Jonasi Gomora, portrayed by actor S’dumo Mtshali in the popular 2026 Netflix series The Polygamist, is a wealthy and charismatic family man whose multiple relationships and infidelities ultimately destroy his family and personal legacy.

By comparing himself to the fictional character, Roki appears to be acknowledging personal shortcomings that may have contributed to the breakdown of his marriage to Pauline.

Roki and Pauline were once regarded as one of Zimbabwe's most celebrated couples during the Urban Grooves era of the early 2000s.

Their relationship produced two children and was closely followed by fans throughout their careers.

However, their marriage was marked by periods of turbulence, including reports of infidelity, substance abuse and lifestyle challenges that eventually led to their separation.

Following the divorce, Roki went on to have children with other partners, including former wife Melody Musekiwa.

Child maintenance disputes involving Roki and his former partners also attracted public attention over the years.

Pauline has since spoken openly in interviews and podcasts about the difficult period surrounding the end of the marriage.

She has reflected on the impact of substance abuse and the party lifestyle that characterised parts of her early career, while crediting her faith for helping her rebuild her life.

Whether the social media post represents an official statement from the musician remains unclear, but it has nevertheless reignited public interest in one of Zimbabwe's most talked-about celebrity relationships.
