Armed robbers jailed 22 years

The duo are accused of committing 12 robberies.

Two Chitungwiza men were sentenced to 22 years in jail each for mugging hitch hikers in the town.

Admire Sachoto(33) and Clever Sachoto(43) pleaded guilty when they initially appeared before Harare magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure.

The duo are accused of committing 12 robberies.

They will, however, serve 15 years each after five years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

A further two years were removed on condition they restitute the victims.

The court heard that the duo would target their victims, who were hitch-hiking and rob them after giving them a lift.

The duo used the same modus operandi on all counts.
