GOVERNMENT’s agricultural input scheme, Pfumvudza//intwasa  has allegedly been politicised in Silobela, Midlands province  with disgruntled villagers claiming that Zanu PF officials are only doling out the inputs to ruling party members.

MDC Alliance councillor for Donsa in ward 29, Willard Moyo told Sunday Southern Eye that he was booted out of a committee in charge of the donations by Zanu PF activists.

He claimed that Grain Marketing Board officials in Silobela told them that they were under instructions from the Zanu PF Kwekwe offices not to distribute the inputs to non-party members.

“Zanu PF led by their party chairman Thomas Tshuma in Silobela has taken over the programme claiming that they got instructions from their top leadership because ward 29 is a stronghold of MDC Alliance,” Moyo said.

“They even addressed villagers to that effect. Chief Malisa and the police could not do anything about it  as people are now forced to do Zanu PF slogans during the distribution.”

Zanu PF Midlands  provincial chairman Daniel Mackenzie Ncube professed ignorance over the matter.

“I have not heard about that, we distance ourselves as a party from such actions. That is a presidential programme managed by Agritex people and the councillors for the benefit of everyone. I do not know Tshuma because some of them are new. He is an overzealous person. I will investigate that,’’ said Ncube.
