Three childhood friends roped in by a dodgy police commissioner for murky errands fall into the trap and end up undertaking criminal activities.

When one piece of the trio makes a mistake during a robbery, the commissioner orders a hit for him to be killed by the other two, bursting open a can of worms.

Will a thorough investigation by other state security agents expose the commissioner’s covert dealings or will the corrupt police officer continue to prevail as usual?

These are the questions a viewer will only be able to comprehend when they watch Pipeline, a local action film set for launch this Easter.

A script penned by Mapfumo Katsaya and Tendai Makiwa, the motion picture was shot in different locations across Harare and features seasoned actors including Katsaya, Kumbirai Mutsindikwa, Claude Nyakauru, Arthur Antonio, Pah Chihera and Pamela Dzvinamurungu, among others.

“It is a fantastic feature (film) that was directed by Melgin Tafirenyika and consists of some of the top class acting talents we have locally, it is going to be epic,” said the producer Jonathan Marerwa.

“It is action-packed, full of intrigue and drama that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

“This is one of the best action movies that has been shot in the country to date.”

According to Marerwa, the movie will premiere on April 15 — Good Friday — although the team has not finalised if they will host a physical event.

“We are not sure at this juncture whether or not we will have a premiere event due to covid-19, but we are looking to release on Good Friday,” he said, adding that the Pipeline is a precursor to many of Zambezi Motion Pictures’ planned projects for the year.

“After Pipeline has been released, we will start the pre-production of Prayers which will be another epic movie set to be filmed in Zimbabwe and the diaspora, this will be followed by Checkmate set for August as well as a telenovela called Blood, Thorns and Roses at the end of the year,” he said.
