MOTOR racing star Axcil Jefferies’ schedule for the season continues to get more hectic after he joined German team Haupt Racing Team (HRT) for this year’s GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.

The 12th edition of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup series revs off at Imola Italy on April 1 and is set to conclude with the fifth and final round in Spain.

Jefferies will team up with Al Faisal Al Zubair and Fabian Schiller in a number 777 Mercedes-AMG GT3

It has already been a hectic season for the 27-year-old Zimbabwean after he won the Hankook 24H Dubai with the WRT team before joining Swiss team Kessel Racing for the Asian Le Mans Series last month and finished as runners-up.

Jefferies will also compete for Kessel in the International GT Open.

Jefferies is also part of the Konrad Motorsport family in the NLS Series and Nurburgring 24 Hour this year and Haupt Racing is the fourth team he will be joining this year.

The German team also announced that it will have three cars in its third consecutive Endurance Cup.

“HRT is delighted to confirm that the team will contest its third season in the Endurance Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe with three Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT3s – two in the Silver Cup class and another car will battle for points and podiums in the new Gold Cup class,” the team said in a statement.

“The Haupt Racing Team lines up with new driver pairings in this year’s GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.

“The #777 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will take to the grid as “Al Manar Racing by HRT” in the colours of Al Manar Financial Investments. Drivers Al Faisal Al Zubair (OMA), Axcil Jefferies (ZIM) and Fabian Schiller (GER) will compete in the Silver Cup.

“The #4 car, sporting a full livery of new team partner PAUL, will also do its racing in the Silver Cup. Sharing the driving duties will be Jannes Fittje (GER), Jordan Love (AUS) and Alain Valente (SUI). All three drivers will be making their debuts for HRT.

“Alternating at the wheel of the third HRT GT3 – the #5 car sporting a classic red HRT design and bearing the logos of new concept – will be team owner Hubert Haupt Team(GER), Arjun Maini  (IND) and Florian Scholze  (GER). The trio is making its debut in the new Gold Cup,” HRT said.
