Star FM nominations delight musicians

All roads will next Saturday lead to Zimpapers Radio House Garden for the fourth edition of the Star FM Listeners Choice Awards.

Last Monday, the radio station announced the nominees for the 2022 Star FM Listeners Choice Awards which will see artistes battle for 18 categories at stake.

Man of the moment Carrington Simbarashe Chiwadzwa, aka Nutty O was nominated for five awards and shared his excitement with Standard Style.

The Handiperi Power singer was nominated for People’s Choice Award, Best Male Artist, and Song of the Year (Handiperi Power), Best Collaboration (Be My Girl) featuring Kae Chaps and +263 featuring Gemma Griffiths).

“It is an honour to once again receive recognition from the station,” Nutty O said.

Feli Nandi, who was nominated for the National Arts and Merits Awards and Zimbabwe Music Awards early this year, was nominated on two categories — Best Female Artist and Best New Comer.

“We are overwhelmed, we didn’t expect it, but it’s here so we celebrate,” she said.

Rockford Josphat, aka Roki, who was nominated six times said he was humbled to be considered for such a momentous award.

“I am humbled to be considered for such a momentous award,” he said.

The musician was nominated for the Best Collaboration category for his hit song Patati Patata, which features Congolese rhumba superstar Koffie Olomide.

Roki was also nominated for the Best Male Artist, Best Song of the Year, Best R’n’B Song of the year (Uchandifunga) and Best House/Amapiano for the song (Screenshot), which was also nominated for Listeners Choice Song of the Year Category.

Mambo Dhuterere, now a popular feature on the Star FM Listeners Choice Awards, was nominated for the Best Gospel Song for his song Hamen Hlebena, featuring Zolasko which was also nominated for the Best Collaboration category.

Dhuterere was also nominated for Best Male and Listeners Choice Song of the Year categories.

“We are so excited and grateful for the support we get from our fans, they have been so loyal have been loyal to us and we will continue deliver them good music,” he said.

“Above all we are grateful for the gift and blessings we get from the Almighty God.”
