WHEN Zimbabwe takes the field for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, the logo on the players' chests will belong to a company that has, in one form or another, been part of Zimbabwean life for more than 20 years.

Mukuru's decision to extend its front-of-jersey partnership with Zimbabwe Cricket through to December 2027 is, on paper, a straightforward sponsorship renewal. But the timing, locking in a deal that runs through the country's first-ever World Cup co-hosting stint, signals something more deliberate; a bet that Zimbabwean cricket's next three years will matter more than any before it.
