TOP Zimbabwean volleyball referee Mashasha Sibangani Selome has been appointed by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to officiate at the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in Ljubljana, Slovenia — a landmark achievement for Zimbabwean sport.
The Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) confirmed the appointment yesterday.
“We are incredibly proud to announce a historic milestone for Zimbabwean volleyball,” the ZVA said.
“Our very own Mashasha Sibangani Selome has been officially nominated by the FIVB to officiate at the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2026.”
Selome will be stationed in Ljubljana for Week 2 of the Men’s VNL, scheduled to run from June 24 to June 28, 2026.
The tournament serves as a battleground for the world’s elite, featuring powerhouses, including Italy, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Ukraine, and the host nation, Slovenia.
“This appointment is a massive win for the ZVA and a testament to the hard work, precision and dedication Selome brings to the game,” the association added.
“From local courts to the global spotlight, we are taking the Zimbabwe flag high in the international arena.”
