TRIANGLE new coach Thulani Sibanda will miss his side’s first two Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) games against Herentals and Manica Diamonds after he travelled to Tanzania on Thursday for a Caf A coaching course.

The Sugar Sugar Boys entertain The Students at Gibbo tomorrow in their first league match of the season.

The former Bulawayo Chiefs gaffer took it upon himself to upgrade his coaching credentials and enrolled with the Tanzania FA as Zifa has not been offering the Caf courses for over five years, but require local coaches and their assistants to possess the Caf ‘A’ License to preside over PSL clubs.

Triangle president Dahlia Garwe yesterday confirmed Sibanda’s absence and said his assistant Thomas Ruzive will preside over the two games.

“Thulani (Sibanda) will miss the first two matches; these being Herentals and Manica Diamonds matches. We are aligned with Zifa, and he (Sibanda) was exempted on the basis that he had enrolled for the Caf A license. Thomas Ruzive, the assistant coach will be in charge during his absence,” Garwe said.

Sibanda won the Chibuku Super Cup with Bulawayo Chiefs last November but could not even collect his medal as he rushed to catch the flight to Tanzania for the Caf course.

He was assistant to Portuguese national Nilton Terroso, who had left the country.

Meanwhile, Chiefs, who engaged Lizwe Sweswe, host Ngezi Platinum in their first league match at Luveve Stadium this afternoon.

Sweswe yesterday said after the good show that his boys put up in the 1-0 defeat to FC Platinum in the season curtain raiser, the Castle Challenge Cup at Mandava Stadium last week; he was optimistic of a good result today.
