BY DANIEL NHAKANISO SPANISH La Liga side Real Valladolid have become the latest club to be linked with a move for Warriors striker Tino Kadewere as he edges closer to leaving Olympique Lyon.

The Zimbabwe international played a bit-part role in his second season with Lyon last term after an impressive maiden term in the French topflight, where he made 33 appearances and scored 10 goals.

Following the indifferent season, reports are that the lanky forward could be headed for the exit door with interest swelling from other suitors.

The 26-year-old, who was reported to be favouring remaining in France, has in recent weeks been linked with Ligue 1 sides Strasbourg, Rennes, Troys, Lorient and Brest

An unnamed German club was also reported to have expressed interest in the player. However, the clubs were only looking at a loan deal, yet Lyon are looking to cash in on the player.

Kadewere is currently in the Netherlands, with his Lyon teammates preparing for the 2022/23 season.

Now it has emerged that Kadewere, who is contracted to Lyon until 2026 could be set for a move to the Spanish La Liga following reports on Friday linking him with newly promoted side Real Valladolid.

According to the Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Valladolid, who earned promotion back to the La Liga have identified Kadewere as a priority signing as they seek to strengthen their squad.

Valladolid returned to La Liga by sealing a second position in the table in the second tier La Liga 2, thus guaranteeing the team direct promotion to the top flight.

Dario AS did not specify if Valladolid have submitted a bid yet for the Zimbabwean forward.

Lyon have reportedly slapped a €10m price tag on Kadewere who they signed from Ligue 2 side Le Havre for €12m back in 2020.

Kadewere’s future at Lyon has become a subject of intense speculation after the 26-year-old fell down the pecking order at the club on the back of recurring injuries and loss of form.

Despite impressing under former Lyon coach Rudi Garcia, Kadewere struggled for game time under new boss Peter Bosz last campaign, scoring once all season in 15 appearances in the league.
