BY STYLE REPORTER SOUTH AFRICAN comedian Barry Hilton will meet upcoming Zimbabwean comedians when he comes into the country for a comedy show titled Unscripted to be staged in Harare next month.

The show, which is being organised by Xtratime Entertainment in collaboration with Two Kings Entertainment, will be held at the Reps Theatre.

Hilton, who was born in Zimbabwe and later moved to South Africa, seems to have fallen in love with Zimbabwean comedy, particularly nurturing upcoming comics.

“Barry Hilton will be performing at the Reps Theatre on September 3 and he is looking forward to meeting before the show and share notes,” said Xtratime Entertainment spokesperson Wishart “Shiplings” Mashipe.

“During his last show in Zimbabwe in 2017, Hilton met Long John at the same venue and the two had time together and look what is happening to Long John.

“We hope our upcoming comedians will come and get a few ideas from the veteran comedian and help develop their acts.”

Mashipe said with over 40 years of experience, Hilton has turned out to be more of a mentor and Zimbabwean comedians should engage him when he comes on September 3.

Youthful comedians Ian Phiri, I am King and Tanya Alex will warm up the stage for Hilton when he stages his show titled Unscripted, which he had been performing across the globe.

“He just finished the Europe tour of Unscripted and his next port of call is Zimbabwe which is a special place for him since he was born here,” Mashipe said.

“Bringing Barry is a no brained, he is talented, super funny and delivers clean jokes which makes him a favourite to the Zimbabwean comedy audience.

“It will be a night of rib-cracking laughter; we also have a super line up of local acts who will open the show for him. This is how Barry nurtures young talent.”

Xtratime Entertainment and Two Kings Entertainment will jointly bring some of the top regional and international comedians to Zimbabwe under #SeKeReRa banner.

Xtratime Entertainment has previously successfully hosted sold out comedy nights in Harare with some heavyweight comedians, namely Anne Kansiime (Uganda), Hilton (South Africa), John Vlismas (South Africa), Alfred Kainga (US), Carl Joshua Ncube, Q Dube, Long John, Doc Vikela Goliath and Goliath (South Africa) Gonyeti, Farhan Esat, Tinaye and Baba Tensen.
