BULAWAYO, Aug. 6, (Southern Eye Live)-A Bulawayo man has been jailed after defrauding a co-worker of US$500 over a fake job promise.
Amukela Nkiwane (54) of Cowdray Park was sentenced to 30 months' imprisonment for fraud by a Bulawayo magistrate.
The court heard that sometime in January this year, Nkiwane, who worked at Ingutsheni Hospital, received US$500 from fellow employee Simango Khanyisa, (41) as inducement for organising a job for the latter's younger brother.
Khanyisa later discovered Nkiwane had no authority to offer jobs and reported the matter to police, leading to his arrest and conviction.
The court suspended six months of the sentence on condition of good behaviour, and another four were set aside on condition Nkiwane resitutes the victim.
