Mohadi to launch dual books at National Gallery

The high-profile dual launch takes place on May 28  at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare, starting at 12 noon.

Vice-President Kembo Mohadi will next week officially launch two new books offering sharp, deeply analytical perspectives on Zimbabwe’s political history, governance, and the socio-economic roadmap toward 2030.

The high-profile dual launch takes place on May 28  at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare, starting at 12 noon.

Both publications are authored by prominent writer and political analyst Lungani Zwangobani, whose latest work tackles polarising conversations surrounding the ruling party, its liberation legacy, and modern state-building.

The first book, Why Zanu PF Must Succeed: 50 Golden Jubilee Reflections, takes an unapologetic look at the country’s governing party.

Zwangobani argues that the country’s stability, progress, and future sovereignty are inextricably linked to the institutional success and renewal of Zanu PF.

The book unpacks the “foundations of legitimacy,” where the author contends that political authority in Zimbabwe is rooted in “liberation legitimacy” — the historic sacrifice of the liberation struggle — beyond standard electoral processes.

It also explores the “party-state symbiosis” and revisits key milestones, including the 1980 reconciliation policy, the integration of rival liberation armies, and the landmark 1987 Unity Accord.

The second volume, A Daring in November, shifts focus to developmental execution.

Subtitled Ingwenya-Ngwenyama: An Indomitable Spirit, the book examines the “Dream of 2030,” using grassroots examples from regions like Silobela to argue that parts of the country are moving ahead of the national developmental clock.

Chapters including “The Weight of Three Fish: Harsh Reality of 2017” contrast past economic margins with a futuristic “Glimpse of 2030,” highlighting decentralised growth, digital infrastructure, and modernisation.

Organisers said they expect senior officials, policymakers, academics, and diplomats in attendance.

“These books boldly map out the architectural pillars of our state institutions and where we are going as a nation,” said an organising committee representative.

The event is open to the public. Copies will be available for purchase, followed by an author signing session.
