Nketa schools receive Starlink kits

Mavhunga handed over the equipment to Nketa High School, Emganwini High School, Manondwane Primary School and Senzangakhona Primary School on Tuesday.

Four schools in Bulawayo’s Nketa constituency have received Starlink internet kits donated by Local Government and Public Works deputy minister Albert Tawanda Mavhunga.

Mavhunga handed over the equipment to Nketa High School, Emganwini High School, Manondwane Primary School and Senzangakhona Primary School on Tuesday.

Mavhunga said the initiative reflected government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring learners across the country gain access to modern information and communication technologies.

“Today, we had the honour of handing over and donating four Starlink kits on behalf of His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa to four schools in Nketa constituency to help improve access to internet connectivity and ICT education,”he said.

Mavhunga said the donation would enhance access to online learning platforms, research materials and digital educational tools, particularly as Zimbabwe intensifies efforts to build a digital economy under Vision 2030.

“These donations are part of government’s broader drive towards a digital economy where no child and no community is left behind in accessing modern technology and digital learning opportunities,” he said.

Mavhunga said internet connectivity had become a critical component in education, innovation and economic development..

“Access to reliable internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity in today’s world. Learners and teachers must be equipped with the tools and connectivity needed to compete in the modern global environment.”

The government has prioritised digital transformation under Vision 2030, with schools increasingly being equipped with ICT infrastructure to improve access to technology-based education.

Starlink satellite internet services are being adopted in several institutions to improve connectivity, particularly in areas with limited conventional internet coverage.
