Local authorities from the Midlands Province are actively showcasing investment opportunities at the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), taking advantage of the week-long business symposium to attract potential investors and partnerships.
Running in Bulawayo, the annual trade showcase has drawn participation from nearly all councils in the Midlands, with many amplifying their presence through social media campaigns to engage a wider audience.
Gokwe Town Council is among the exhibitors making a strong pitch to investors.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the council expressed excitement over the growing interest in its offerings.
“We are thrilled to see the overwhelming interest as investors flock to explore Gokwe’s untapped potential. Today, our stand was graced by our acting town secretary, Mr Alexander Nyandoro, who is on-site to engage with visionary partners,” the council said.
The local authority highlighted a range of investment opportunities including prime commercial stands measuring 240m², 300m² and 450m², as well as industrial stands aimed at manufacturing and value addition.
“The window for prime land is narrowing. Join us at the Connect Africa Tent, Stand CD13 to secure your stake in Gokwe’s future. Don’t be left out — the time is now!” the post read.
Shurugwi Town Council also confirmed its participation, inviting potential investors and stakeholders to visit its exhibition space.

A local governance expert said the participation of local authorities at high-profile platforms such as ZITF was critical for grassroots economic development.
“Local authorities are the custodians of land and key drivers of infrastructure development. Their presence at platforms like ZITF allows them to directly engage investors, showcase opportunities, and build partnerships that translate into tangible development projects,” he said.
The expert added that such exhibitions also enhance transparency and accountability.
“When councils openly market their investment opportunities, it creates a competitive environment that encourages efficiency, proper planning and responsiveness to investor needs. Ultimately, this benefits communities through job creation and improved service delivery,” he said.
