HWANGE has recorded significant progress in education infrastructure with the handover of new early childhood development (ECD) classrooms and the launch of another school project.
The developments were announced at a ceremony presided over by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland North, Richard Moyo, who handed over an ECD A and B classroom block at Monde Primary School and led the groundbreaking ceremony for a classroom block at Sizinda Secondary School.
“These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education in a safe and supportive environment,” Moyo said.
He noted that investment in early childhood development is critical in shaping the future of learners and strengthening the country’s education system.
“Early childhood development is the foundation of all learning. By prioritising it, we are laying a strong base for the nation’s long-term growth and development,” Moyo said.
The commissioning of the ECD block at Monde Primary School is expected to improve learning conditions for young pupils, providing modern child-friendly facilities that support early learning and development.
At Sizinda Secondary, the groundbreaking ceremony signalled the beginning of efforts to address infrastructure gaps and expand learning space for students.
Moyo said the projects were aligned with the country’s development agenda under National Development Strategy 2 and Vision 2030, which prioritise human capital development as a key driver of economic growth.

“These achievements are a result of strong partnerships among the government, the private sector and communities. This collective effort ensures that no child and no community is left behind,” he said.
Moyo urged communities to take responsibility for maintaining the infrastructure to ensure its sustainability.
“We call upon communities to safeguard these facilities and ensure they are properly maintained for future generations,” he said.
