Rising Dubey Tennyson releases new single

Bulawayo’s emerging R&B and Afro-fusion artist Dubey Tennyson has released his second single, Kelechi.

Born Thabo Tennyson Dube, the young musician describes his craft as a calling that grew from humble beginnings where he made cover songs.

“I realised I wanted to create something of my own and pursue music independently,” he told Southern Eye Showbizz.

“I have performed at a couple of shows, but this is just the beginning.”

Tennyson describes his music as artistic storytelling that depicts everyday struggles and emotions.

Drawing inspiration from R&B heavyweights like PartyNextDoor and Trey Songz, he blends soulful elements with Afrocentric rhythms to create a distinctive sound.

His new track Kelechi tells the story of a young woman battling insecurities about her past and self-worth.

“What she doesn’t realise is that the world already sees her beauty and strength,” he explained.

With production from DJ Seewelltone and DJ Humble, Tennyson believes this release could mark a turning point in his career.

A career highlight came when he performed at News Cafe at Emperors Palace in South Africa, gaining insight into the industry at a bigger level.

Despite challenges faced by independent artists, Tennyson remains determined.

“If you want to achieve big things, you have to take big risks and step outside your comfort zone,” he said.

Fans can expect an EP blending Afrobeats with R&B scheduled for July release.

Tennyson is also eager to collaborate with Zimbabwean artists, including Sandra Ndebele and Fab G.

“Kelechi” is available on all digital platforms, with visuals to follow.

With his unique blend of Afrocentric rhythm and soulful emotion, Dubey Tennyson’s journey is only just beginning.
