Thieves assault transporter at border

Plumtree magistrate

FOUR suspected thieves assaulted a Zimbabwean transporter at the Plumtree border post following a misunderstanding.

Police arrested one of the suspects, Danisa Herijah (34), while his three accomplices remain at large.

Herijah appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on Monday

Nembaware remanded the suspect in custody until February 3 for trial.

The state, represented by Sheila Nyathi, alleged that on December 5 of last year, the complainant was driving his Toyota Noah from Botswana to Zimbabwe.

After entering Zimbabwe with the suspects in his vehicle, they accused him of transporting other thieves and stolen equipment from Botswana.

They then stopped the complainant and took turns assaulting him.
