Six accused of stealing from city boutique

They were remanded in custody to tomorrow. They are accused of stealing property worthy US$4 500.

SIX prisoners, who had been languishing in Khami prison after failing to apply for bail due to inability to access the integrated electronic case management system (IECMS), finally appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa on Friday .

The six are Pedzisai Manungo, Farai Machimbidzofa, Bangani Sibanda, Sharon Ngirazi, Priviledge Tatenda Mangena and Sibusisiwe Manatsa.

They were remanded in custody to tomorrow. They are accused of stealing property worthy US$4 500.

Their lawyer representing them Arkisayi James Dhliwayo of Hara Law Firm said they appeared in court due to changed circumstances in their appeals.

Prosecutors said between August 1 and 20, the six who are employed as sales assistants by Chic Styles Boutique in Bulawayo connived to steal from the shop.

The six allegedly took turns to load clothes from the shop’s storeroom and stashed them in a sack.

They allegedly connived with Manatsa, who was manning the exit.
