Gwanda residents get chance to rate council services

In a statement, Gwanda mayor Thulani Moyo urged residents to participate in the survey and provide feedback on the services they receive.

GWANDA, Aug. 19 (NewsDay Live) — The Municipality of Gwanda, in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, has launched a Citizens Scorecard Survey to give residents an opportunity to assess the quality of services provided by the local authority.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability while generating feedback to support evidence-based decision-making and improvements in service delivery.

In a statement, Gwanda mayor Thulani Moyo urged residents to participate in the survey and provide feedback on the services they receive.

“This initiative strengthens transparency and accountability by giving you an opportunity to evaluate local services and support continuous improvement,” Moyo said.

The Citizens Scorecard is a governance and public service delivery assessment tool designed to increase citizen participation and enable residents to evaluate the quality, effectiveness and responsiveness of services delivered by local authorities.

Moyo said the feedback collected would help council identify areas requiring improvement and inform future decisions.

“Feedback gathered supports evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement in service delivery,” he said.

The mayor assured residents that information provided through the survey would remain secure and confidential.

Gwanda is the provincial capital of Matabeleland South and is located about 130 kilometres southeast of Bulawayo. The municipality administers 10 wards.
