Residents of Kuwadzana are set to benefit from improved policing and faster access to law enforcement services following the groundbreaking ceremony for a new modern police station in the suburb.
The new police station will feature modern office blocks, accommodation, detention cells and other essential facilities, replacing the current station, which operates from a converted residential house.
Residents welcomed the development, saying it would strengthen security and improve service delivery in one of Harare's largest high-density suburbs.
Local resident, Hazel Maposa said the new police station would make it easier for residents to access police services.
"For years we have relied on a police station that was never designed for this purpose. A modern facility will improve service delivery and give residents greater confidence in the police. We hope it will also help reduce crime in our community," she said.
Another resident, Denzel Mapuranga, said the project was a positive step towards enhancing public safety.
"Kuwadzana has grown significantly over the years, and it deserves infrastructure that matches its population. This new police station will benefit everyone by improving response times and creating a safer environment for families and businesses," he said.
Once completed, the facility is expected to significantly enhance policing operations, improve working conditions for officers and provide residents with more efficient and accessible police services.’
