Three engineers from the Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency (ZINGSA) will represent the country at the SpaceRaise Summer School in L'Aquila, Italy.

The event is scheduled for May 18 to 22, 2026.

The Embassy of Italy confirmed that Brian Murima, Macdonald Gwaunza, and Priscilla Tagutanazvo will take part in the training programme, which bridges space science, data analytics, and social research.

The embassy noted that the engineers' participation reflects growing scientific collaboration between Italy and Zimbabwe, particularly in emerging technologies and space-related disciplines.

"SpaceRaise Summer School represents a platform for young researchers and engineers to engage in cutting-edge scientific exchange," the embassy said.

"Italy is proud to support initiatives that foster international cooperation in science and technology, particularly those that empower young professionals from partner countries to build skills that contribute to global development."

The programme is designed to strengthen technical expertise while promoting cross-border knowledge sharing in areas increasingly shaping global development policy.

"We believe that collaboration in geospatial science and quantitative analysis is essential for addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges, including climate change, urban development, and data-driven governance," the embassy added.

The inclusion of Zimbabwean engineers underscores the importance of inclusive participation in global scientific advancement.

"By bringing together participants from different regions, the programme ensures that innovation is not limited by geography but is instead enriched by diverse perspectives and experiences," the statement read.
