Dinson to Invest US$15 Million in New Mvuma Cement Plant

Dinson Iron and Steel Company is set to invest more than US$15 million in the construction of a new cement manufacturing plant within the Dinson Special Economic Zone near Mvuma.

According to the Zimbabwe Economic Review yesterday, the new plant will have an annual production capacity of more than 300 000 tonnes, with operations expected to commence by mid-2027.

“The plant will have an annual production capacity exceeding 300 000 tonnes, with operations targeted to begin by mid-2027.

The project forms part of Dinson’s expansion strategy aimed at strengthening value addition and supporting downstream industries linked to construction and infrastructure development,”the Zimbabwe Economic Review stated

The report added,  “the investment is expected to generate approximately 150 new jobs during the operational phase, while additional employment opportunities are anticipated during the construction stage,”

Zimbabwe Economic Review noted that the establishment of the plant aligns with Government’s industrialisation and import substitution agenda under Vision 2030.

“The project is expected to create about 150 new jobs. The new investment will also stimulate economic activity in Midlands Province and surrounding communities,”the report added

Dinson has in recent years become one of the major investors in Zimbabwe’s heavy industry sector, particularly through its large-scale steel manufacturing investments in Mvuma.

The development of the cement plant is also expected to strengthen linkages between mining, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, further enhancing the country’s industrial base.
