Harare man fatally stabs rival suitor

The victim sustained head injuries and was ferried to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where he died on admission.

HARARE man, Takudzwa Gadzira (25) has been arrested for murder after he allegedly fatally stabbed a rival suitor in a scuffle over a girlfriend.

Police confirmed the incident which happened in Southlea Park on Saturday and identified the deceased as David Nyaudzeni (29).

“The suspect stabbed the victim with a butcher knife once on the chest following a scuffle over a girlfriend," police said in a statement.

Nyaudzeni was taken to a local clinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival, after which his body was ferried to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. 

In an related case, police in Matobo district in Matabeleland South province recently arrested Gibson Ndlovu (72) in connection with the murder of Mncedisi Ndebele (39). 

It is reported that on October 19 at around 0300hours, Ndebele confronted Ndlovu at his homestead armed with a machete accusing him "of encroaching into his yard before striking him on the left hand with the same weapon. 

A scuffle then ensued and Ndlovu disarmed Ndebele and turned the machete against him .He allegedly struck Ndebele  all over the body. Ndlovu reportedly later dumped Ndebele's corpse in his yard before it was retrieved and taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for post-mortem.

In another case, police officers in Harare have warned "bus and commuter omnibus conductors against opening doors while the vehicles are in motion".

This comes after a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on Saturday along Nemakonde Road near Conway College, Harare. A bus conductor (27) died after he opened the door while the vehicle was in motion intending to pick a passenger but fell on the tarmac before he was hit by the bus’ left rear wheels.
