Two Harare brothers appeared before a Harare magistrate facing armed robbery charges after allegedly robbing a Glen Lorne couple at gunpoint.
Mike Nongwe (33) and John Nongwe (37) were remanded in custody and are expected back in court on April 30 for continuation of the defence case.
The court heard that on March 11, 2025, at Highgate Close in Glen Lorne, the pair allegedly unlawfully and intentionally used violence or threatened immediate violence against Robert Coventry and Lynette Shirley Coventry while armed with a pistol.
Prosecutors allege they stole US$11,450, R10,000, 40 rounds of .22 ammunition, 60 rounds of .243 ammunition, two gold necklaces, two bracelets, two pairs of earrings, Bushnell binoculars, Pentax binoculars, two shavers, a charger, an iPad, a set of hearing aids, five pairs of underwear, five pairs of socks, pork and chicken meat, two solar chargers, a calculator, a Sony camera, screwdrivers and three pairs of pliers.
The State alleges all the property belonged to Robert Coventry and Lynette Shirley Coventry, who had lawful control of the items before they were taken.
