Acting Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Abednico Ncube said investigations were still ongoing to ascertain what really transpired.

“The case is still under investigation,” said Ncube, but would not be drawn into commenting further.

About 12 cops were arrested for allegedly demanding bribes from motorists at roadblocks as the force moves to stamp out corruption from within its ranks.

The plainclothes detectives allegedly recovered cash that some officers had stashed in their stockings.
