ZIFA Southern Region Division One league pacesetters Bulawayo Chiefs stretched their lead to eight points after beating Ntabazinduna Prison 1-0 in Plumtree on Saturday.

Chiefs are now on 46 points from 20 matches, as the race for the championship hots up with 10 matches remaining to wrap up the season. Black Boots faltered in their campaign on Saturday at Fairbridge losing 0-1 to Bantu Rovers before their home crowd, allowing Tshintsha Guluva to move to the third spot.
The Thulani Sibanda-coached Bantu Rovers are now on 35 points, three behind Black Boots and have since dislodged Tsholotsho FC who suffered a home defeat, losing 1-2 to Mpumalanga. Despite the loss, police side Black Boots remained on the second spot, but watched the gap widen on them as Rahman Gumbo’s Chiefs continued to rise.
The team to watch at the moment is the Methembe “Mayor” Ndlovu-owned Bantu Rovers, whose stoke has continued to rise since they enlisted the services of Sibanda after he parted ways with Bulawayo Chiefs.
Former Premiership side Zimbabwe Saints were on the receiving end losing to lowly Bulawayo Jumbos 2-1 at Brady Barracks and slipping down on the log standings.
Chikwata on 31 points were displaced by new side Technosphere who beat visiting Mkosana 3-0 in Hwange to land on 31 points and are on top by virtue of a superior goal difference. ZPC Hwange are now square on 30 points with New West City who beat them 1-2 in the coal mining town. Basement side Rufaro Rovers grabbed a point from Quelaton at White City Stadium. They rued having some of their regular players absent as they are camped with the Bulawayo Youth Games team.
The Hwange Juniors match against Ajax Hotspurs in the coal mining town was moved to Wednesday.
