Johane the Fifth of Africa International Church (J5) has commended Finance and Investment Promotion minister Mthuli Ncube, following the launch of the Mthuli Ncube Foundation's Cowdray Park tower lights rehabilitation project.
The initiative is expected to improve safety, enhance economic activity, and support the government's Vision 2030 agenda of developing smart, inclusive communities.
Speaking at the launch, Ncube said the rehabilitation of the tower lights was about more than restoring infrastructure.
"Today I had the honour of commissioning the newly rehabilitated tower lights in Cowdray Park, an initiative made possible by the Mthuli Ncube Foundation. I was joined by the deputy mayor of Bulawayo, councillor Edwin Ndlovu, and Ward 28 councillor Ntandoyenkosi Ndlovu,” Ncube said.
"For too long, darkness in our community has meant limited economic activity and compromised safety, especially for women, children and workers returning home late. “Restoring these lights is about restoring dignity, enabling opportunity and creating safer spaces for families to live and thrive.
"Through the foundation, we are also assisting in the construction and capacitation of a police station to help combat crime in the area.
“As we work towards Vision 2030 under the leadership of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, we will continue supporting practical interventions that improve the lives of our citizens."
J5 members attended the launch in large numbers in support of the initiative.
J5 Bulawayo province chairperson Father Cazwel welcomed the development, describing it as a demonstration of servant leadership.
"We are happy to see these developments in our community. Honourable Ncube has shown admirable servant leadership through this intervention. We pray that the Lord Almighty guides this project," he said.
