SOS for Ingutsheni Hospital

Ministry spokesperson, Donald Mujiri, said the initiative sought to mobilise resources to enhance service delivery at the hospital.

The Health and Child Care ministry has sent an SOS to corporate organisations and the business community seeking financial and material resources to support Ingutsheni Central Hospital in Bulawayo.

Ministry spokesperson, Donald Mujiri, said the initiative sought to mobilise resources to enhance service delivery at the hospital.

“This is part of a broader effort to strengthen collaboration between the public sector and private players in order to improve health services, particularly in the mental health sector,” Mujiri said.

“Ingutsheni Central Hospital plays a critical role in providing specialised mental health care, and support from the corporate sector will go a long way in ensuring the facility meets growing demand.”

Mujiri said contributions from companies and other partners would be directed towards refurbishing wards, upgrading equipment, and improving living conditions for patients.

“Through this initiative, we are seeking to bring together the business community and other stakeholders to pledge financial and material support,” he said.

“Every contribution counts towards enhancing the quality of care for our patients and building a more robust mental health service in the country.”

“Strengthening our health institutions is a collective responsibility.

“This resource mobilisation effort underscores the need for continued cooperation between Government, corporate players, and the community at large.”

Ingutsheni is the country’s main referral centre for mental health services.

The hospital has faced challenges including ageing infrastructure, limited resources, and rising patient demand.
