CASTLE Lager Premiership football side Mutare City Rovers, who are yet to taste defeat in the second half of the season, are sweating over three key players who are on the treatment table ahead of their match against Caps United at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The Mutare City Council-owned side, who last week extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a 2-1 win over Hwange on Saturday, are fretting over the availability of forward Kudakwashe Gurure (knee) and centre-backs, William Mapfumo (ankle) and Munyaradzo Sacco (back).

The two sides are fighting different battles with Mutare looking to steer themselves further away from the danger zone while Caps United are engaged in a title tussle.

Rovers would have wanted to face wounded Caps with their full strength squad following their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Bulawayo City.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport yesterday, Rovers team manager Lyndon Kanyemba expressed worry over the injured trio.

‘’We are worried about our three players who are on the injury list. We have Kudakwashe Gurure, Munyaradzi Sacco and William Mapfumo and they are all doubtful for the match. What we are more worried about is that the players have been part of the first team that has remained undefeated in our last six matches,’’ he said.

“We would have wanted to play Caps with our full team, but we also have good replacements, we need a positive result at all costs but we are playing a big club in the country, hence we need to cautious,’’ he said.

Rovers have already said that they are fighting the dreaded chop in their maiden season while Caps are in the race for the league title.

They cannot afford to drop maximum points as they are exerting pressure on log leaders FC Platinum who are enjoying a five-point lead over them.
